Reading made easier with colour
Announcing….our Vision and Reading Clinic Open Day on 21st September 2019 at the Practice between 10am and 4pm

In recent times we have started our Vision and Reading Clinic to help children and some adults who are struggling with reading or suffer Migraine. Symptoms like blurred text, words appearing to move and other symptoms. This is known scientifically as visual stress, which can sometimes be a symptom of Dyslexia. We cannot assess or treat Dyslexia, but we can help alleviate Visual Stress which may coexist with Dyslexia.

When the patient first comes to our clinic, they go through an extensive eye examination to firstly rule out any ocular conditions which may then be treated. We then carry out a colour overlay analysis using the ReadEz system – a computer bases analysis tool which generates an appropriate colour from a bank of 15 for the child to use as an overlay to aid reading.

If the initial overlay proves successful, we move to the next level where our intuitive Colorimeter machine carries out an in-depth analysis and an optimum colour is chosen from 10,000 permutations of tint and hue. This often gives a vastly improved rate of reading and overall satisfaction for the patient and for some this may simply make reading more comfortable – this in itself may lead to more interest in reading.

Although Visual Stress, sometime referred to as Meares Irlen Syndrome, has not been clinically proven to be cured with colour, the results have been self-evident and we are seeing many children vastly improve their reading ability and adult migraine sufferers relieved of the affliction. It is our wish to help as many children as possible locally to overcome their reading difficulties and to move on educationally.

The day is open to anyone interested in finding out how we can help with reading difficulties or alleviate Migraine. It will be an ideal opportunity to meet the team including Caroline Chambers, our children’s expert; see the equipment in action and see the new practice. You are welcome to pop in anytime between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 21st September. If the date of the open day is inconvenient and you would like to speak further, we can arrange an alternative date and time to meet. You can also find out more on our website.
