Sun, Sea and Spectacles

You’re about to embark on the holiday of a lifetime or simply a ‘get away from it all’ to the back of beyond. Wherever you’re heading, if you wear spectacles, there are a number of top tips to help overcome any potential problem which could just ruin your holiday!  So be a smart spec wearer and follow these tips:

  • Most people have a spare pair of specs – make sure you pack them before you pack anything else. They will always be at the bottom of the case just in case!
  • Protect your specs – make sure they are always in a hard case when you are not wearing them. They’re less prone to get broken when someone sits on them and they’ll be protected from scratches too.
  • Take a lens cloth and miniature spray with you. That’ll make sure you see everything clearly and soak up the sights, plus they’re great for cleaning your camera lens and phone lens too!  If you’ve run out pop in and see us we sell all sizes of sprays and have some excellent lint-free lens cloths.
  • If travelling for some time, take a small spectacle repair kit or small screwdriver with you – you never know when a screw will fall out and it’s not always easy to find an optician like Benjamins in the back of beyond to fix it for you!
  • Take a copy of your prescription with you – if you lose your spectacles, a local optician will be able to make a new pair up for you, but that would be very tricky without your current prescription. We can supply you with a copy from your last eye examination, if you have lost yours. In an emergency you can always contact us for more information.

Have a great holiday and don’t forget to send us a postcard wearing your lovely specs or sunglasses!  Or post one on our Facebook page – we’d love to hear from you.  Bon Voyage!
