Spectacle Lenses

At Benjamin’s our aim is to help you understand and choose the correct spectacle lenses to suit your needs and expectations and couple them with frames that really compliment your style. To do this we may ask lifestyle questions such as your occupation and hobbies. The answers to these questions can help us advise you which type of lens maybe suitable for your individual requirements.

Benjamin Opticians - Stylish & Corrective Spectacle Lenses

Stylish, Corrective Lenses…

Modern lenses now offer a broad range of options and materials.  This means they are cosmetically better looking, more comfortable to wear and give you much better vision.

Lenses can be made thinner and lighter. These are especially good if you rave a high prescription. This means your lenses no longer have to be thick and unsightly and your choice of frames restricted.

If you require both a near and a distance correction, it is usual to have different pairs of spectacles for each correction – this is sometimes inconvenient. You might consider bifocals or varifocals which combine the two prescriptions to give a practical and much more convenient solution. Choose varifocals and your glasses can also be cosmetically pleasing with no obvious line across the lens. Ask about our ‘any distance’ Varilux lenses.

Harmful Ultra Violet Protection…

Many people can find themselves increasingly sensitive to bright light. This problem can be helped by wearing sunglasses which can have a tint tailored to your sensitivity requirements or a photochromic lens which changes with the amount of sunlight. Both these options can be glazed into a wide selection of frames giving a fashionable and practical solution. See more on our Sunglasses page.

Benjamin Opticians - Specialist Spectacle Lens Coatings

Specialist Coatings…

To enhance the appearance of your lenses and improve the quality of your vision special coatings can be applied. This may be a hard coat which can help prolong the life of your lenses and/or an anti-reflection coating which helps reduce night-driving glare, computer work as well as improving the look of your lenses. Anti-reflection coatings will stop your eyes being hidden behind unsightly reflections, and can also help stop the glare from oncoming headlights that can make night driving so much more stressful. If you work in an office, you can find reflections from ambient lighting and your computer visually tiring, often leaving you red-eyed by the end of the day. Crizal UV coating filters out UV rays, and is so tough that we give a free, two-year, no-quibble, guarantee against minor scratches leaving your vision clearer for longer.
